1. Introduzione: Direct vs Reported Speech
|---|---|---|
| Present Simple (e.g., "I work") |
Past Simple (e.g., "He worked") |
He said, "I write code." $\rightarrow$ He said (that) he wrote code. |
| Present Continuous (e.g., "I am working") |
Past Continuous (e.g., "He was working") |
She said, "I am debugging." $\rightarrow$ She said (that) she was debugging. |
| Past Simple / Present Perfect (e.g., "I worked" / "I have worked") |
Past Perfect (e.g., "He had worked") |
They said, "We finished the project." $\rightarrow$ They said (that) they had finished the project. |
| Will | Would | He said, "I will compile it." $\rightarrow$ He said (that) he would compile it. |
| Can | Could | She said, "I can fix this." $\rightarrow$ She said (that) she could fix that. |
| Must / Have to | Had to | He said, "I must update." $\rightarrow$ He said (that) he had to update. |
- Now $\rightarrow$ *then / at that moment*
- Today / Tonight $\rightarrow$ *that day / that night*
- Yesterday $\rightarrow$ *the day before / the previous day*
- Tomorrow $\rightarrow$ *the next day / the following day*
- Here $\rightarrow$ *there*
- This / These $\rightarrow$ *that / those*
He asked me, "Where do you live?" $\rightarrow$ He asked me where I lived. - Yes/No Questions: Si introduce la subordinata utilizzando if o whether (se).
She asked him, "Are you ready?" $\rightarrow$ She asked him if/whether he was ready.
*He said to me* o semplicemente *He said*). *He told me*).
