Look! It is raining outside.).
I am staying with my grandparents this week.).
- Situazioni in mutamento o evoluzione: processi di cambiamento graduale (es. The climate is changing very fast.).
I am meeting my friends tomorrow evening.).
2. Coniugazione e Struttura
La struttura della frase affermativa richiede il soggetto, il verbo ausiliare to be concordato e il verbo principale con la desinenza -ing.
\(\text{[Soggetto]} + \text{[am / is / are]} + \text{[Verbo base]}-\mathbf{ing} + \text{[Complementi]}\)
Esempio: We are studying English right now.
| Pronome Personale | Verbo (Esempio: to work) | Traduzione italiana |
|---|---|---|
| I | I am working (I'm working) | sto lavorando |
| You | You are working (You're working) | stai lavorando |
| He / She / It | He / She / It is working (He's working) | sta lavorando |
| We | We are working (We're working) | stiamo lavorando |
| You | You are working (You're working) | state lavorando |
| They | They are working (They're working) | stanno lavorando |
Esempio: play $\rightarrow$ playing, read $\rightarrow$ reading, go $\rightarrow$ going.
Esempio: write $\rightarrow$ writing, make $\rightarrow$ making, have $\rightarrow$ having.
Esempio: run $\rightarrow$ running, sit $\rightarrow$ sitting, swim $\rightarrow$ swimming.
Esempio: begin $\rightarrow$ beginning, admIt $\rightarrow$ admitting.
4. Forma Negativa, Interrogativa e Risposte Brevi
La costruzione della forma negativa e interrogativa segue lo schema standard dei verbi ausiliari con il verbo to be:
• Negativa: \(\text{[Soggetto]} + \text{[am/is/are]} + \mathbf{not} + \text{[Verbo]}-ing\)
Esempio: She isn't listening to music.
• Interrogativa: \(\text{[Am/Is/Are]} + \text{[Soggetto]} + \text{[Verbo]}-ing + \mathbf{?}\)
Esempio: Are you coming with us?
- Are you listening? $\rightarrow$ Yes, I am. / No, I'm not.
- Is it raining? $\rightarrow$ Yes, it is. / No, it isn't.
5. Indicatori Temporali Frequenti
- now (ora), right now (proprio adesso), at the moment (al momento), currently (attualmente).
- Frasi esclamative attrattive come Look! (Guarda!), Listen! (Ascolta!), Be quiet! (Fai silenzio!).
Esempio: Listen! The baby is crying.
💡 Distinzione Chiave: Present Simple vs Present Continuous
Right now, I am working on my laptop).
